Life's been interesting lately. For the most part good. My job's been going well and they keep giving me either some work (it's slow though so there's not much to do to being with) and they keep giving me work related items (such as American Express cards and a laptop soon). It's been side of boring but that's not always a bad thing.
Both Jackie and I have been getting neat things that make us feel not poor anymore. Our 19 inch piece of shit TV broke so we bought a 1080P LCD TV, by LG. Bought a new 360 and a bunch of games, on a whim at that, and I can now safely say I'm part of the comfy couch crew. I can see why consoles have their appeal now that my living room doesn't suck ass. Why play Fallout 3 on my PC when I can do it on my awesome setup?
We both wanted to get new cars this month but after loan issues and our neighbors bumper being ripped off by someone running into her car, we figured we'd wait on that. House first.
Jackie's job sucks. Her new position that she was promised changed for the worse. No longer is it the day shift, it's the same shift she's on. And she still has to do what she's doing now. That company is pretty horribly run. I'd love to scream at some of the people there but I obviously can't get into the building. Too bad, it could be hilarious.
Getting back into console games makes me want to get into writing a little more, in a review sort of sense. I'd love to do something a little less blog like but I don't know if anything like that exists yet for retards like me. Maybe I'll just review stuff on the blog and direct link to those posts. I used to write about videogames a long time ago, I think WoW and being poor killed that off, and now that I'm not poor and that WoW's grip has released me (in a chemical addiction sort of sense), I'd like to get started again.

Most of the big shore places were closed now and there were hardly any lights except the shadowy, moving glow of a ferryboat across the Sound. And as the moon rose higher the inessential houses began to melt away until gradually I became aware of the old island here that flowered once for Dutch sailors' eyes - a fresh, green breast of the new world. Its vanished trees, the trees that had made way for Gatsby's house, had once pandered in whispers to the last and greatest of all human dreams; for a transitory enchanted moment man must have held his breath in the presence of this continent, compelled into an aesthetic contemplation he neither understood nor desired, face to face for the last time in history with something commensurate to his capacity for wonder.
And as I sat there brooding on the old, unknown world, I thought of Gatsby's wonder when he first picked out the green light at the end of Daisy's dock. He had come a long way to this blue lawn, and his dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it. He did not know that it was already behind him, somewhere back in that vast obscurity beyond the city, where the dark fields of the republic rolled on under the night.
Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter - tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms further... And one fine morning -
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

My hate of teenagers
|
FLEABttn 4:24 PM |
I hate teenagers. Even when I was a teenager, I hated them. They respect nothing and act with complete disregard for other people. Given my hate of teenagers, I of course was cursed with the "privilege" of living below three or four recent high school grads. On July first, they started moving in above me. My anger started when I saw how they were dressed - low class "bros" - and my anger only increased when I saw how young they were. Their faces gave it away, but it was confirmed with the 2008 high school tassels hanging from the rear view mirrors of their cars.
Again, July first was their first day here and they moved, loudly at that, until 3 am. Music could be heard July second and third as well from about 1 to 3 am. On July second, they felt the need to park in our assigned spot and I called them out on it five minutes later. They moved their car, however, since then they had parked in whatever other spots they felt like storing their cars in. It's frustrating because it displaces the people who are assigned these spots.
July fourth through thirteenth, my girlfriend and I were in Michigan. We had our worries about our neighbors because we wouldn't be able to call them out on any infraction while we were away. On the thirteenth, we arrived to find cigarette butts and a half smoked cigar on our walkway, and music playing at 1 am past when we fell asleep. On the fourteenth, fifteenth, and sixteenth, we received more gifts of cigarette butts, loud music at 1-3am, clothing hanging on the banister, as well as their guests parking wherever they felt like. I delivered the cigarette butts to the managers office, and found out there were numerous complaints about them already, and they were working on evicting them.
Last night takes the cake. At 1 AM, they were robbed in their house at gunpoint. Some trivial high school rivalry exploded into a home invasion. We were pissed, because from what we were told by one of their friends, one of the residents did "something shady" to one of the armed robbers, so armed robbery was the course of action taken for vengeance. I talked to police as soon as they arrived and ranted to them about the shittiness of my neighbors. The police were there for almost 3 hours before they left.
This morning, I woke up to a channel 4 news truck parking across from my building. I got dressed figuring they might want to talk to me because we were the downstairs neighbors. About 5 min of them trying to talk to the remaining guy upstairs, they came down, informed me there was an eviction notice on their door upstairs, and interviewed me. 5 hours later, channel 13 came by and interviewed me as well.
The lesson with this is, if you are 18, don't play "My first apartment" in expensive apartment complexes. As well as don't do shit to people who will home invasion you.
