My 7 predictions for this generation updated again

FLEABttn    11:15 AM

1)Xenon launches with such success in America that it turns some possitive looks from Japanese developers that aren't Tecmo including... v_v ...Square-Enix. Only closed door talks occur at first, but by 2007, the first major Japanese RPG hits the console. Xbox 3 launches with major Japanese support.

This has proven to be almost spot on. While the Squeenix support has fallen off since FFXI, ex-Final Fantasy developers formed Mistwalker, and with a deal with Microsoft, are going to provide 3 major JRPGs for the 360, the first of which has already been released in Japan with rave reviews and which will hit America in spring 2007. The "closed door talks" days have perhaps ended, as Namco is bringing their own JRPG to the 360 and Virtual Fighter 5 has been announced for a summer 2007 launch.

2)Playstation 3 launches with a medicore line-up including Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Fantavision SE, Sony advertises for Playstation 27, and once again, I'm told that I'm a *insert console here* fanboy for not owning one. Sony buys Silicon Knights for no real apparant reason. Too Human is released with critical acclaim, and everyone at Cloudchaser buys it, but then everyone says how much they hated it one year later.

Playstation 3 launched with a mediocre line-up and a price that nobody was really ready to pay. PS3 scalping fell off quickly, and not because of a lack of PS3's. Tekken was not at release, but was available for download in Asia about a month after the system launched. While actually advertising for PS3 this time around, the ads were still equally as stupid. I am now considered an Xbot despite my "console of choice" is the PC and I'm picking up a Wii to sit above my 360.

Too early to tell about Too Human.

3) Nintendo releases the Revolution with everything fixed that was broken with the GameCube: A media with plentiful space, a controller that fits more than Nintendo's needs, and a competant online plan. However, consumer confidence is low due to prior problems with consoles and the DS, and thus, 3rd party support is bad as well. If the Revolution does as well as the GameCube, then Nintendo makes one more console before being bought by MS. If it does worse, MS buys Nintendo in 2011.

Nintendo releases the Wii to critical acclaim. Gone are the days of tiny DVD's, games are now kept on normal sized ones. The Wii's controller turned out to be quite the surprise and seems to be working well for Nintendo and third parties. While Nintendo has an online plan now, it's still not very fleshed out. If the Wii keeps selling as well as it is, Nintendo is well off for the future.

4) The DS is an innovative piece of work, but due to developers that don't know what to do with the system and graphics worse than that of the PSP, the DS turns out to be Nintendo's worst failure since the Virtual Boy.

It seems I was way off on this one. Cheaply made DS games don't use the stylus very well, but the quality ones make good use of it and the DS is selling extremely well.

5) The PSP has a huge market lead over the DS. However, Sony stops making UMD movies to cut loses cause nobody buys them.

Half wrong. PSP is selling worse than the DS by far and those god awful UMD movies aren't selling. Pretty much only movies that Sony has the rights to are on UMD.

6) Sega finally gets over its internal turmoil in 2006, but Sonic Team is never the same. Rumor has it, UGA's bongs get in the way. Team Andromeda is created once again to make a sequel to Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Sega doesn't get over its internal turmoil, and Sonic Team is never the same. If Team Andromeda is ever created again, it will only share the name as the original. Most people from the original team no longer work for Sega.

7) EA buys Visual Concepts, but then spilts the team up. None of the VC staff end up on EA Tiburon.

Still wrong, although it's worth noting that 2k Games is considering a new football game.

Next time I update this, I'll leave out points 6 and 7 as they've more or less come to pass, however if there's something worth mentioning about
