Why?
|
FLEABttn 1:29 PM |
Today marks the day when TechTV and G4 merged. Now, that in itself could be a rant, but that's not what I'm here to discuss. What I'm here to do is spill my anger. Today, I saw a TV show called "X-play". It in itself doesn't seem to bad, however, the first show I saw was the "Fans pick" show, and what I saw reminds me why I hate a great deal of people who play video games. What did the fan pick show contain? Why, it had Star Wars, Final Fantasy, and...Tinkie Winkie. This angered me so, because everything they showed was dumb (except FFXI, which isn't too dumb, but they showed the game off by showing off the catgirls).
However, my blood truly began to boil after finally seeing Final Fantasy X-2 in action. After wanting to gouge out my eyes for having played FFX for a mere 9 hours, I knew that FFX-2 could do nothing to redeem itself in my mind, but what I saw was honestly terrifying. For starters, the game is a losers wet dream. Three scantily clad Japanese women are the games protagonists, but it does not end there. A great part of the magic system involves changing your characters clothing, and finding particular outfits that match for greater results in battle, which is wonderful if you're a drag queen. Why stop there though? Why not go full out and have singing and dancing routines...for the shear shake of having singing and dancing routines? With only seeing 5 minutes of footage, I can easily say that this was the most retarded game of 2003, and thus, deserves an award.
Congratulations Square Enix, you are now my most hated developer ever, knocking the reigning champion of EA from the top spot to a close number two.

This site is 100% emo free
|
FLEABttn 1:01 PM |
With having an extreme allergic reaction to shit, I can safely say that this site it 100% emo free. If you don't like that, you can go cry to your livejournal friends you wannabe depressed retard.
And, for clarity, let's break some stuff down:
LiveJournal - Depressed people/Emo kids (by claiming to be either of these, you automatically are the other, as in you can't be depressed without listening to emo, and you can't listen to emo without being depressed)
Xanga - Asians, AZN's, and Monique Moyal.
MovableType - People who have too much time on their hands.
Blogger - hard to say. On one hand there's me, and I'm awesome. Matt uses blogger as well, and he's cool too. On the other hand, Victor, "Spider Mike", and this "Gumby" kid use Blogger, when they easily could be mistaken for LiveJournal users.
Others - are there others? I'm pretty sure I've heard of a "Diary Land" or something, but it was pretty dumb.

Almost there
|
FLEABttn 1:05 AM |
I'm almost there. My first year is almost over, and I greatly look forward to coming home. Finally, I will be able to get some non-traditional rest, that Tyler rest that I was so used to in high school. Mental rest. Emotional rest. Even physical rest.
There's nothing nicer than knowing that it's 1 AM, that it's highly likely that you are the only person awake within a 200-foot radius. There's nothing grander than walking 30 feet to fetch yourself a sandwich and glass of water at 2AM from a full sized fridge. There's nothing more delightful than walking 5 feet to the bathroom in your underwear without being disturbed by anyone at 3 AM.
The end is nigh, and it's about damn time. I've got cabin fever, and it would be a safe bet to say that some of my friends do as well. Even though I lived in a cabin at home, it was a larger cabin, with indoor commodities, and conveniently located services such as banking, food, and entertainment. My current cabin is restricting. It's bare. I don't like the surrounding environment, and thus, I lock myself away in a room a little bigger than my one at home. At home, I would leave my room, or was at least able to look down the hall, giving me an impression of a larger space. Here, there is nothing. I rarely leave my seat, and when I do, it's to go to class, go to Eric's, or to go to bed. It's claustrophobic here, to the point where I've stopped really playing video games or watching anime.
Eric's is better, but by only so much. People are there. People I can interact with. There's video games, there's a couch, there's TV, there's internet. However, it's confined. While I've surrounded myself in a better environment, it's limiting in it's own ways. Everybody wants to go there, ergo, real estate is limited, and it can (and usually does) feel smaller than my own room. Also, with there being only one TV and one computer that can really do anything; I get bored in my own way. Someone will be using the PlayStation, someone else playing Counter-Strike, and I there on the couch with my laptop, accomplishing nothing.
My mind numb, my patience short, my temper ill.
Less than two days, and it's about goddamn time.

Reggie
|
FLEABttn 12:56 AM |
The Reggie phenomenon has spread like wild fever, and I am riding the wave to salvation.
Makes no sense does it? Well, it's not supposed to.
That's not the point though. The point is one of my friends made a Reggie picture two days ago, and this picture got posted at the Penny-Arcade message boards. In a mere two days, I tranfered 120 megs towards this file. This is 4 times more than I usually transfer in a single month.
Thank Reggie and all that his has given us this glorious day.

TV
|
FLEABttn 2:30 AM |
Although I knew that FCC standards allow cable channels to essentially do and say anything, most choose to ignore this, and edit their content. Comedy Central is really the front runner in exploring these new bounds, by having the South Park episode where they say "shit" a hundred some odd times (although this shouldn't count, this was pre-new FCC rules), showing the South Park movie unedited, and Eddie Murphy Raw (I guess the definition of "Raw" has changed, the only Rawness was the word "shit"). However, after watching FX tonight, I see that more networks are moving in this direction. The television series, "The Shield", has decided that shit is now a part of the television vocabulary, and they must have used it six times. A good call by FX if you ask me.
I keep getting hits at my server from this one specific address, which doesn't bother me. It just confuses me because I can't find any reference to anything on my server on that site. Well, whatever.

Second Year
|
FLEABttn 2:27 AM |
Today is my web pages second birthday. At first it started out as a personal site, and it's turned into...a better-looking personal site. In its honor, I expect sacrifices (preferably lambs). So, get to it.
While it may not seem old, keep things in perspective: GameFAQS has only been around since 1996, IGN since 1998. My site it one-third the game of IGN. That's just nuts.
Age is everything when it comes to the internet. The older your website gets, the better off it is. It's really easy to make one, and because it's so easy, keeping it alive and keeping your own interest in it can be difficult. This was one of many websites I made or was indirectly responsible for. This is also the last one still open.
Let's shoot for a year three. Perhaps I'll have more content by then. Or not.
Hmm, aparantly, there was a LAN party last weekend over in Craig Hall that was supposedly pretty cool. A whole bunch of people went from everywhere in California. Makes me sad that I missed it.
No new news on my roommate.

News
|
FLEABttn 7:03 PM |
At noon today, my roommates step-dad came to my room to pick up some of his stuff and to update me on the situation. Bad news: it is a brain tumor, and it cannot be removed with operations. Chemotherapy is the next step.
Sigh.
New updates to the site. I have added a forum, aka message board. Use it if you wish.

Very Bad Day
|
FLEABttn 2:36 AM |
My roommate goes home every weekend for an internship he has. This weekend though, he didn't come back. Late Tuesday, I found out from his best friend why that was: possible brain tumor.
He'd been sick for a few weeks. Once he slept for essentially the entire day. He complained of having cold and flu like symptoms. Last week, he was given a prescription to Ibuprofen (I assume for headaches), ammoxacillin, and something else.
This past weekend, he was still sick. His parents were worried and took him to a doctor. After doing a CAT scan (among other things), they found something in his brain. The doctor thought it was a brain tumor. He went through some surgery today to find out exactly what it was in there.
I received a note from his friend today, saying to call him as soon as I got it. I got it at 1 AM, so I left another note saying why I didn't call, and that he should call me later. I'm hoping this note isn't what I think it is.
You're gonna carry that weight
