I feel so dirty

FLEABttn    12:49 AM

I had Linux put on my computer today for the sake of my grade in Computer Science. It feels odd. It looks like Windows, sort of, but bitchier. Whenever I need to do anything, I need to log into root, and all this crap has to be installed from the command line. Out of shear curisoity, I looked for games on Linux, and there're not many. So far, I found out Enemy Territroy is on Linux, and I'm assume there are more out there, but, well, you know...

I also plugged in my flash drive to find out if it could read it, but the bitch didn't even turn on my USB's. What the hell!

Also, I'm updating Linux, and it's taking its sweet time, but I'm afraid that I'm gonna have to do something called a "kernel recompile" and that's just gonna suck. I have no idea what I'm doing right now.

Movies of 2003

FLEABttn    1:38 PM

OK, the movie of 2003 is: Kill Bill: Vol. 1. It is by far the most entertaining movie of the year. Quentin Tarantino's skills as a director shine through in this movie. The camera angles and locations show that the man is a professional at what he does. Great storyline as well. Of course, I can't forget the action. This was the most violent movie of the year, but it was so over the top that I couldn't help but smile throughout the entire movie.

Runner Up: 28 Days Later.... A low budget British horror film with excellent cinemetography and an interesting sotry line. Some of the greatest moments in the movie are the shots of an empty London. Also, some of the music they chose really fit the movie, like Brian Eno's "Ascent".

Honorable mentions:
Finding Nemo - Pixar rocks. Period.
Big Fish - Tim Burton is one of the greatest directors of our time.

Let downs/Overhyped/How the fuck did it score so high?
Bad Boys II - Some cool actions scenes, but just dumb overall. A lot of noticable editing goofs. An overall waste of time.
Last Samurai - Don't get me wrong, this is a good movie, but people were praising it like it was the second comming of Christ. Well, it wasn't.

Someone read my mind

Finally, someone comes up with a Spaghetti Western first person shooter. Atari has decided to make the game that I need: Dead Man's Hand. I'm an outlaw in the wild west and I go around and shoot shit like I'm Clint Eastwood. I can't loose with this kind of game, even if it turns out to only be mediocre.

Of course, Atari isn't the only one's brining the love. Sammy has decided to give me a western style FPS as well: Darkwatch: Curse of the West. This one has vampires or someting as well as cowboys. Sounds interesting.

Also, despite now being in February, I have come out with my Games of the Year.

The 2003 game of the year is: Call of Duty. World War II has never felt so real. You take control of a soldier in 3 different armies and 2 different fronts. The amount of memorable events in this game is mindblowing, it's like you're playing a movie. Great graphics and sound also help provide a WWII experience that's hard to beat. My hat is off to Infinity Ward.

Runner Up: Max Payne 2 The Fall of Max Payne. This was the sequel to the 2001 smash hit that put the developer Remedy on the map. This time, Max Payne is back, twice as melodramatic, half as constipated. Instead of seeking revenge for the death of his wife and child, he seeks love in his equal and opposite, Mona Sax. An interesting story line, great writing, wonderful gameplay, and superb graphics make this a sequel somewhat of a rarity: it outdoes the first.

Honorable mentions:
Amplitude - Crazy music, crazy hard at points, illegally fun.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - A 3D Prince of Persia that doesn't suck and is actually good. Who would have thought?
Soul Calibur II - Best fighting game of the year.
True Crime - GTA meets LA.

Let downs/Overhyped/How the fuck did it score so high?
XIII - Stylized graphics and that's about it. The storyline is only mildly interesting, and the gameplay is just a run of the mill "I don't care" first person shooter.
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - 2 hours in and I gave up. I couldn't take this shit. It's boring and pointless. What little story that is actually in the game is stupid and is totally unorginal (how about the main character does something and gets transported to an unfamiliar land? It worked for FFX, so it has to work for this). Square, do me a favor and shoot yourself in the head right now, before I put the bullet in there for you. If you take your own life at least you'll still have your honor.

Movies of 2003 come later.

If I were any less insane, I'd be crazy.
